Scrapbook Assignment
You will be creating a scrapbook in the first person, as if you are the person you are studying. You will be provided with the scrapbook to put the following things in:
- A cover page that contains the person’s name, your name and the authors of the books and/or online resources that you used to gather your information.
- Three photo pages that contain at least three photos on each page (9 total pictures) with captions. These may be drawings, magazine cut-outs, or even clip art, but they must represent the following: childhood, a major event in the person’s life, and this person’s contribution to society.
- Three journal entries. One each from the beginning, middle, and end of the person’s life. These must be from the person’s point of view (written in first person). The entries must: include detailed information about an important event in the person’s life, be written in paragraph form, and provide insight into the person’s feelings at the time of the entry.
- A souvenirs and mementos page. There must be at least six mementos that the character in your book might have collected and placed in their scrapbook. An explanation for each must be included. These may be drawn, cut out, or collected and glued into the scrapbook. An example of a souvenir might be a ticket stub from a show or game. An example of a memento might be a key, a button or a lock of hair.
- Letters page. At least two letters must be included in the scrapbook. One letter must be written by the person you are studying to a friend or family member that describes in detail a major problem or challenge faced by that person. Another letter must be written to the person you are studying from a friend or family member that is in response to the first letter.
